Academic Figure IV: Intermediate Oil Painting

In this challenging exercise, orient the planes of the figure with two ubiquitous underpainting colors of the Renaissance, red earth and terra verte, by controlling cool and warm progressions. Students will review and re-apply lessons of previous topics.
Topics/skills: Separation of the parts of light by color; color flopping; color complements, chroma. Completed painting resembles an early stage of finished work, demonstrated in Academic Figure V. Demonstration in mornings; afternoon practice. 20 hour pose.

Partial day attendance: When five day workshops fill to capacity, additional attendees during morning demonstrations are welcome. Full day students get preferential seating. No prerequisite for lecture. $20/morning.
